Five skills and competencies providers partner with Oracle

May 15 2005 - Oracle has partnered with five leading skills and competencies providers to help customers better manage their talent. Working with Cubiks, Exxceed, Human Asset Technologies, InScope and ITG Competency Group, all members of the OracleŽ PartnerNetwork, Oracle has streamlined the integration process between Oracle Human Resource Management Systems (HRMS) and the partners' skills and competency dictionaries.

Customers using Oracle HRMS and a partner's competency dictionary will be able to leverage the new integration to speed the set-up process, which now takes minutes instead of the previous duration of two months to 24 months. End users can upload the dictionaries with the Oracle Web Application Desktop Integrator tool, whereas before, loading the content would have been performed as a piecemeal integration project.

"Companies have a wealth of talent, but need better processes to identify employee skills and competencies," said Joel Summers, senior vice president, Oracle HRMS. "This requirement is becoming an increasingly important, time-critical driver for many organizations that are aligning their workforce talent with organization objectives. Due to time pressures and the need for a specialist approach, integration of competency dictionaries from acknowledged experts allows customers to quickly identify hidden employee skills and then redeploy staff accordingly."

Organizations have reaped benefits from basic HR function automation, such as payroll, benefits, and time and attendance. However, progressive companies are looking at broadening technology's role in HR operations to automate employee assessments and performance management elements instead of static spreadsheets and out-of-date physical competency dictionaries.

"Managing human capital at the enterprise level may well be the next and best opportunity organizations have to create a sustained competitive advantage," said Cliff Hallberg, managing principal, ITG Competency Group. "However, just as 'all politics is local,' so ultimately is staff development. The Oracle competency management functionality offers clients a way to link individual staff development to corporate goals and objectives."

As companies continue to seek a competitive edge through employing the brightest talent and developing the most promising of their employees, they need a standardized method for evaluating skills and competencies throughout the global enterprise. Oracle created the integration link between select skills and competency providers to streamline how organizations recruit, motivate and redeploy staff to boost employee retention rates and productivity. Oracle's new partnerships will help customers identify key competencies in employees and align staff to create agile workforces.
